Nigerian forward Friday Etim announced his return to FC Midtjylland in style after scoring twice in one minute during the Danish club’s emphatic 6-0 pre-season victory over Cardiff City at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday.
The 24-year-old striker came off the bench in the second half and made an immediate impact, netting in the 49th and 50th minutes to help complete a dominant performance for Mike Tullberg’s side as they continued their unbeaten start to the summer preparations.
Etim’s impressive display came just weeks after securing a return to Midtjylland following a successful spell at FC Fredericia.
The Nigerian forward initially joined Midtjylland in 2025 before moving to Fredericia in search of more regular first-team opportunities.
His time away proved valuable, as Etim enjoyed a breakthrough period, scoring five goals and providing one assist in 14 league appearances for Fredericia before Midtjylland activated their option to bring him back.
The club handed him a contract until the summer of 2029, showing their belief in his long-term potential.
Against Cardiff, Midtjylland had already built a commanding advantage before Etim entered the contest.
Valdemar Byskov opened the scoring in the 18th minute, Franculino Djú doubled the lead in the 34th minute, and Victor Bak added a third before half-time.
Etim then took centre stage after the break, first converting Mikel Gogorza’s cross in the 49th minute before scoring again a minute later following an assist from Júnior Brumado.
Brumado added a sixth goal in the 56th minute as Midtjylland secured a convincing victory and ended their Wales training camp on a positive note.
