Midtjylland striker Stanley Iheanacho has revealed that Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen is his biggest role model after making an impressive start to life back at the Danish club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Nigerian forward, who returned to Midtjylland this summer following a successful spell at Portuguese side CD Mafra, has enjoyed a prolific pre-season campaign.
Iheanacho has scored in each of the club's three warm-up matches against Lillestrøm, Malmö, and Silkeborg, taking his tally to three goals and strengthening his case for a key role in the new campaign.
Speaking to Midtjylland's official media on Tuesday, Iheanacho credited Galatasaray striker Osimhen as the player who continues to inspire his development both on and off the pitch.
“Yes, I look up to Victor Osimhen (Nigerian national team striker who currently plays for Galatasaray, ed.). He is a fantastic guy, a fighter who has had to fight his way out of poverty,” Iheanacho said.
“His warrior mentality is inspiring, and when he plays, he gives everything – he is so hungry to score goals. I can see a lot of things from him in myself.”
The young striker also disclosed that he closely studies Osimhen's performances and interviews as he seeks to improve his game, while expressing his desire to one day share the pitch with the Nigeria international.
“I watch his clips and all the interviews he gives. I try to learn from him and my dream is to play with him one day,” Iheanacho concluded.
Iheanacho earned his return to Midtjylland after a standout campaign with CD Mafra, where he finished with 14 goals in the Portuguese Liga 3.
With his confidence soaring following an impressive pre-season, the promising forward will be aiming to carry his rich goalscoring form into the 2026/27 campaign and repay the club's faith in bringing him back to Denmark.
