'The president approved it' - Kucuk confirms Galatasaray pushing to sign Burnley midfielder Ugochukwu

Turkish pundit Ali Naci Küçük has provided a fresh update on the speculation linking Nigeria-eligible midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu with a move to Galatasaray, revealing that club president Dursun Özbek has approved the proposed transfer.

Ugochukwu, who struggled to establish himself at Chelsea, enjoyed a solid spell with Burnley during the 2025/2026 campaign despite the Clarets' relegation to the Championship.

His performances have reportedly attracted interest from the Turkish champions, who are keen to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.

Speaking on the Dici Futbol YouTube channel, Küçük disclosed that Galatasaray are pushing to sign the 22-year-old on an initial loan deal with an option to make the move permanent.

"Galatasaray wants to add Lesley Ugochukwu to their squad on a loan deal with a purchase option," Küçük said via Habersarikirmizi.

"Roland Sallai's agent is conducting the negotiations for Lesley Ugochukwu. The player said, 'I would come to Galatasaray.' The president approved it."

He added that Galatasaray have proposed a deal worth €2 million for the loan, with a €20 million purchase option that would become active depending on the number of matches played.

However, Burnley are reportedly holding out for a permanent transfer worth €25 million, making negotiations between the two clubs ongoing.

"Galatasaray's offer is 2 million Euros plus a 20 million Euro option depending on the number of matches played. Burnley's expectation, however, is a direct transfer fee of 25 million Euros," he added.

Ugochukwu made 35 league appearances during the 2025/2026 season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

With the new campaign fast approaching, the Nigeria-eligible midfielder is expected to resolve his future as interest in his services continues to grow.
