Done deal: Left-footed Flying Eagles winger Tahir Maigana departs Wireless for European club

Through a statement on their official website, Hungarian Nemzeti Bajnokság I outfit Zalaegerszegi TE have confirmed the signing of Nigeria U20 international Tahir Maigana.

By signing a three-year deal with Zalaegerszegi TE, with a club option for the 2029-2030 season, Magana ended his association with Nigerian team Wireless FC.

A right winger by trade, in all six of Nigeria's matches at the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, helping the Flying Eagles secure qualification for the World Cup.

The highly-rated attacker started  in every match at the 2025 World Cup, despite being one of the Flying Eagles youngest players during the tournament in Chile.

A left-footed wide man who prefers to operate from the right flank, he has already drawn comparisons with Arsenal and England star Bukayo Saka.

He caught the eye at both the the Afcon and the World Cup, impressing with his ability to take on defenders and consistently come out on top in one-on-one duels.

Zalaegerszegi TE confirmed that several clubs were interested in Tahir, but he chose the ZTE project because he felt it was the best next step for him at this stage of his career.

The teenager has already started training with his new teammates ahead of the forthcoming season.
