Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has insisted that Beşiktaş are fully focused on producing their best performance when they take on Danish side Midtjylland in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League later this month.
Ndidi, who joined the Turkish giants from Leicester City last summer, has established himself as one of the club's most influential players, earning praise for his tireless displays, leadership and consistency in midfield.
His impressive performances have also fuelled speculation over his future at the Nevzat Demir Tesisleri, with reports linking the Nigerian international with a possible move away during the current transfer window.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, the 29-year-old insists his full attention remains on helping Beşiktaş secure qualification for the next round of the competition.
"We will fight to be at our best in the first match against Midtjylland,” Ndidi told beIN Sports. “We need to get better every day.”
The Super Eagles captain also expressed satisfaction with the club's pre-season preparations under new manager Vincenzo Italiano, revealing that the squad is gradually adapting to the Italian tactician's philosophy.
"The camp is going well. We know our coach. We have time to understand Italiano's system." "Our coach wants me to get into the opponent's penalty area. He also wants me to play as a number 8," he said.
Beşiktaş were paired with Midtjylland in the second qualifying round, with the first leg scheduled to take place in Istanbul on July 23 before the decisive return fixture in Denmark on July 30.
Ndidi will be eager to play a pivotal role as the Black Eagles seek to book a place in the next stage of the competition and avoid a repeat of last season's disappointment, when they were eliminated in the second qualifying round by Lausanne-Sport.
