Osimhen convinces Metu to join Galatasaray despite interest from two EuroLeague clubs

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly played a decisive role in convincing Nigerian basketball star Chimezie Metu to join Galatasaray despite strong interest from two EuroLeague clubs.

Osimhen, who joined the Turkish giants last summer, has established himself as one of Galatasaray's most influential figures, making an impact both on and off the pitch.

The Nigerian international enjoyed an outstanding campaign, scoring 22 goals and providing eight assists in 32 appearances across all competitions to help the Yellow-Reds retain the league title.

Beyond his performances on the field, Osimhen has also been active behind the scenes in helping the club attract top talent.

According to Can Bedel/Eski Açık via Habersarikirmizi, Galatasaray official Mecit Mert Çetinkaya played a key role in completing the transfer by arranging a meeting between Osimhen and Metu.

During the meeting, Osimhen reportedly spoke positively about life at Galatasaray and expressed how delighted he would be if his fellow Nigerian chose to join the Istanbul-based club.

The conversation is said to have had a significant influence on Metu's decision, with the basketball player eventually accepting Galatasaray's proposal.

Despite receiving interest from two EuroLeague clubs, Metu opted to continue his career with Galatasaray, agreeing a 1+1-year contract.

His arrival is regarded as another significant addition for the Turkish club as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
