The truth about Cologne's interest in Manchester United striker Chido Obi

Premier League giants Manchester United have not made a final decision on the future of Denmark U21 international of Nigerian descent Chido Obi, despite reports linking him with a loan move to German side FC Cologne.

The 18-year-old made eight first-team appearances for the Red Devils during the 2024-2025 season but did not feature for the senior side at all last term.

In search of regular first-team football, the dual-national striker is open to leaving Manchester United on loan for the upcoming season.

According to Danish outlet Bold, a loan move remains a possibility, but Manchester United will only sanction a deal if the right club comes forward and Obi's pre-season progress supports such a decision.

Transfer journalist Pete O'Rourke previously claimed that Manchester United had held talks with FC Köln over a potential loan.

However, Bold insists that while German scouts have watched Obi on several occasions, there has been no direct contact between the two clubs.

Although the forward is attracting interest from several teams, nothing concrete has emerged.

Obi joined Manchester United from Arsenal in 2024 and he's one of the club's brightest attacking prospects.
