Official: Super Eagles target signs new long-term contract at Brentford

Premier League club Brentford have confirmed that Super Eagles target Michael Kayode has signed a new long-term contract, committing his future to the Bees ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The announcement was made in an official statement on the club's website, with the highly-rated full-back extending his stay at the Gtech Community Stadium until the summer of 2032.

The agreement also includes an option for Brentford to extend the deal by a further year.

Kayode joined Brentford from Italian Serie A side Fiorentina and has quickly established himself as one of the club's most reliable performers.

Renowned for his powerful long throws, attacking contributions and solid defensive displays, the versatile defender has become a key member of the first team.

Since arriving in West London, the 22-year-old has scored one goal and registered two assists in 49 Premier League appearances, playing a significant role in Brentford's impressive performances.

His outstanding form during the 2025/26 campaign also earned him a nomination for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award, highlighting his rapid development and growing reputation as one of the league's brightest young defenders.

Speaking after putting pen to paper on his new contract, Kayode expressed his delight at continuing his journey with the club.

"Signing a new contract at the club is an amazing sensation, so I’m really happy," Kayode stated.

"I feel like this club is a family, so I wanted to continue my journey here. I have amazing relationships that make me really like coming in for the morning to train and have fun with my team-mates, the staff and all the people around.

"Ever since I joined the club, everything has been amazing. It feels like I’ve been playing for Brentford for 10 years.

"I’ve improved a lot on the pitch and outside of the pitch. That’s really important for me."

Born in Italy to Nigerian parents, Kayode remains eligible to represent the Super Eagles at senior international level despite featuring for Italy across various youth age groups
