Former Super Eagles captain and coach Sunday Oliseh has delivered a damning verdict on Brazil following their stunning 2-1 defeat to Norway in the Round of 16 at the 2026 Fifa World Cup.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland rose to the occasion when it mattered most, heading Norway into the lead in the 80th minute before adding a second 10 minutes later to inspire the Scandinavian nation to a famous victory over the five-time world champions at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
Neymar pulled one back from the penalty spot deep into stoppage time, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as Brazil suffered their earliest World Cup exit since 1990.
The historic victory also secured Norway's place in the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time in the nation's history.
Reacting to the result, Oliseh lamented Brazil's decline from the dominant force that once struck fear into opponents, insisting the current side lacks the identity and quality that made the Seleção one of football's greatest teams.
The 1994 and 1998 World Cup star posted on X: "Erling Haaland's second goal tells you everything you need to know. Look at the tactical shape, look at the body language—the Brazil we used to know, is completely gone.
"This Brazil side is sadly and completely playing "ordinary". Bravo Norway. This world cup continues to amaze!"
Norway's reward for their famous victory over Brazil is a World Cup quarterfinal showdown against either Mexico or England in Miami on July 11.
