Official: Versatile Nigerian forward signs scholarship deal with Watford

Through a statement on their official website, Championship club Watford have announced their new intake of academy scholars for the 2026-27 season.

Ten promising youngsters have signed scholarship agreements with the Hornets, including versatile Nigerian forward Dino Obiefule.

Tyler Clarke, Frankie Dalli, Sonny Fraser, Gameli Hoedoafia, Harrison Hudson, Erik Lipetz, Asher Neal, Rory O'Dwyer and Will Ramsey-White complete the group of youngsters awarded scholarships.

All ten players have signed two-year scholarship deals, keeping them at Watford until June 30, 2028.

The group will continue their development under the guidance of the club's highly regarded youth system over the next two years, with the aim of eventually breaking into the first team.

Obiefule was a key member of the Walthamstow side that won the 2024 Essex Andrews U14s Cup.

Born in November 2009, Obiefule, who can operate as either a forward or midfielder, has been described as a direct one-v-one winger capable of playing off both feet and surprising opponents with his relentless attacking ability.

The 16-year-old will hope to follow in the footsteps of Joseph Hungbo, Eddie Oshodi and Tobi Adeyemo, who all progressed through Watford's academy ranks before making their first team debuts for the club.
