'It's time to say goodbye' - Fejokwu bids emotional farewell to West Ham after nine years

Tri-national centre-back Emmanuel Fejokwu has brought the curtain down on his nine-year association with West Ham United, penning an emotional farewell message after leaving the Hammers.

The defender, who is eligible to represent Nigeria, England and the Netherlands at international level, joined West Ham's academy at U9 level and progressed through the youth ranks before his departure this summer.

Fejokwu's exit became apparent after West Ham announced their new intake of first-year scholars for the 2026-27 season, with the highly rated defender notably absent from the list.

Reflecting on his journey, the youngster expressed gratitude to everyone who played a role in his development during his time in east London.

"After nine wonderful years at West Ham, it's time to say goodbye," Fejokwu wrote on Instagram

"From starting out at U9 all the way through to U16, this club has been such a huge part of my life, shaping me not just as a footballer, but as a person too.

"I've shared so many moments—the highs, the lows, the wins, the lessons, and everything in between, both on and off the pitch.

"A massive thank you to every teammate I've played alongside. The memories we've made will stay with me forever. To all the coaches and staff, thank you for everything. I wish the club every success in the future."

In his final season as a schoolboy, Fejokwu turned out for the Hammers youth teams in the U18 Premier League, FA Youth Cup and Premier League International Cup.
