Huddersfield Town announce promising winger Onyeka has signed first professional contract

Huddersfield Town have confirmed through their official website that English-born Nigerian winger has signed his first professional contract.

Onyeka's new deal with the Terriers will keep him at the club until June 30, 2029, after he put pen to paper on a three-year contract.

Fresh terms were offered to the promising attacker following his impressive performances for the U21s during their successful Professional Development League playoff campaign.

After a brief spell in Everton's academy, Onyeka returned to grassroots football before securing a scholarship with Huddersfield Town in December 2024, which came into effect last summer.

Michael represented the Young Terriers in their FA Youth Cup tie away to Rotherham United earlier in the 2025–26 season before earning a promotion to the U21s as the campaign progressed.

In May, he played 81 minutes as Huddersfield Town defeated Norwich City at Carrow Road to win the Professional Development League playoff final.

Onyeka was born in Manchester and is eligible to represent Nigeria at youth level through his father.
