Son of retired Togo international swaps Lille for Strasbourg, qualifies for Nigeria through grandfather

French Ligue 1 club Strasbourg have confirmed the signing of tri-national attacker Kingsley Olufade.

The Blue and Whites announced the arrivals of 2008-born trio Kingsley Olufade, Yassine Aïche and Fahim Boubguira on Thursday, adding that the youngsters have been recruited to strengthen the reserve team.

Kingsley comes from a footballing family, with his father, Adékambi Olufadé, representing Lille, KSC Lokeren, Charleroi and Gent, among other clubs, before hanging up his boots.

The senior Olufadé was part of Togo's squads for the 2002 and 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, making six appearances across the two tournaments, and also participated in the 2006 World Cup.

Uncapped at international level, Kingsley Olufade is eligible to represent Nigeria through his grandfather, France by virtue of his birth in Lille, and Togo through his father.

He joins Strasbourg after a breakout campaign in which he scored six goals in 16 appearances for Lille's U19 side.

Olufade joined Lille at the age of 11 and progressed through the club's academy before making his debut for the reserve team in a Championnat National 2 Group E clash against Entente SSG in April 2025.
