From same Nigerian village to Austria Lustenau: Flying Eagles duo reunite at Bundesliga new boys

German Bundesliga club Hoffenheim have announced via a statement on their official website that Nigeria U20 international Precious Benjamin will spend the entire 2026-27 season on loan at Austrian Bundesliga newcomers Austria Lustenau.

The Flying Eagles striker already has some experience of Austrian top-flight football, having made seven appearances during a loan spell with SCR Altach in the second half of last season.

Austria Lustenau decided to sign Benjamin on loan following his impressive performances as a trialist over the past two weeks.

The 19-year-old featured for the club in their first pre-season friendly against FC Wil, where he showcased his pace, physical strength, and development potential.

Benjamin will reunite with compatriot and fellow Nigeria U20 international Emmanuel Chukwu at Austria Lustenau.

Hoffenheim regard both players as promising young talents and believe their loan spells at competitive clubs will provide them with valuable experience at the highest level.

Having grown up in the same village in Nigeria, attended kindergarten and school together, and been friends since childhood, Benjamin and Chukwu will once again share the same dressing room next season as they reunite at Austria Lustenau.

Benjamin is yet to make his senior debut for Hoffenheim but was named in the matchday squad for their Bundesliga fixture against Bayern Munich last September.
