Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho is keen to stay at Celtic for another season, with the forward prioritising a new contract despite interest from multiple clubs, according to a report by Football Insider.
The 29-year-old, who is currently out of contract after Celtic allowed the option to extend his deal to expire, is now weighing up his next move after a mixed but impactful campaign in Scotland.
The former Manchester City and Leicester City striker joined Celtic last season and quickly became an important figure in the squad under manager Martin O’Neill.
Despite persistent injury setbacks limiting his starts, Iheanacho made a decisive contribution during the club’s run to a domestic league and cup double.
He scored five Premiership goals across the season, with several of those proving crucial in tight title moments.
Among his standout contributions were late winners against Hibernian and Motherwell after the league split, goals that helped sustain Celtic’s push for silverware during a tense campaign.
Iheanacho also played a key role in the Scottish FA Cup, scoring in the final victory over Dunfermline at Hampden Park, a moment that further strengthened his popularity among supporters. His ability to deliver in high-pressure situations made him a valuable option off the bench, even when not fully fit.
According to reports, his time at Celtic has left a positive impression on both player and club, and he remains open to continuing at Parkhead if terms can be agreed.
However, his situation is complicated by growing interest from abroad, including clubs in Turkey, who are monitoring his availability following his contract expiry.
Despite uncertainty, Iheanacho’s preference is believed to be a return to Celtic, where he feels settled and valued after contributing to a successful campaign.
The final decision now rests on whether the club will move quickly to secure his future or allow him to explore other offers ahead of the new season.
