Former Celtic prospect Sule on brink of move to St Mirren from West Brom

St Mirren are closing in on the signing of Nigerian-eligible forward Eseosa Sule after agreeing a deal with West Bromwich Albion for the highly-rated youngster, according to a report by Daily Record.

The Paisley club have been searching for more attacking quality ahead of the new campaign, with manager Craig McLeish keen to add more firepower to his squad.

A transfer agreement has now been reached with West Brom, including an initial fee and performance-related add-ons for the talented 20-year-old.

Sule is expected to return to Scotland to complete the move and sign a three-year contract with St Mirren.

The club are hoping the forward can be registered in time to make his debut in the Premier Sports Cup clash against Dumbarton on Saturday.

The forward, who is eligible to represent Nigeria internationally, began his development at Celtic before joining West Brom in 2023.

He quickly impressed at youth level, earning recognition for his goalscoring ability before making his senior debut for the Baggies.

Sule spent last season on loan at Motherwell, where his progress was disrupted by a frustrating injury setback.

However, his performances and potential remained highly regarded, with St Mirren head of recruitment Gavin Miller already familiar with the striker after being involved in bringing him to Fir Park.

The forward reportedly had interest from clubs in Scotland, England and the Middle East but was convinced by McLeish’s vision and his attacking approach at St Mirren.

McLeish has made improving his team’s goal output a key priority, and Sule’s pace, athleticism and finishing ability are viewed as qualities that can strengthen the Buddies’ attacking options.

The move represents another important step in Sule’s development as he looks to secure regular first-team football and continue his rise in Scottish football.
