Through a statement on the official website, Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland have announced the signing of defensive player Ikenna Proper Ude-Chukwu from strategic partnership club in Nigeria, FC Ebedei.
FC Midtjylland did not disclose the financial terms or length of the contract but confirmed that the 18-year-old will begin his career with the club's U19 team.
FC Midtjylland have signed several Nigerian players from FC Ebedei over the years, with many going on to represent the Super Eagles, including Femi Ajilore, Obafemi Martins, Sylvester Igboun, Paul Onuachu, Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka and Izunna Uzochukwu.
Ude-Chukwu did not hide his ambitions, saying his immediate focus is on improving every day and continuing his development.
In the long term, he hopes to break into FC Midtjylland's first team, with one of his biggest dreams being to play for the club in the UEFA Champions League.
"It's really big for me to sign a contract with FC Midtjylland – and for my family too. It's my first contract, so I'm of course incredibly happy. It's a dream for me, so I'm grateful to have the opportunity," Ikenna stated.
"FC Midtjylland is a big club in Denmark, but I have been very well received by everyone here at the club. There is a big difference from Nigeria to Denmark. So far, the food, the pitches and the weather have particularly impressed me."
According to Head of FCM Nigeria Jonas Dal, Ikenna is a physically strong defender who excels in one-on-one situations, possesses exceptional pace, and reads the game well, making it difficult for opposition attackers to get past him.
