Done deal: Obasi joins Danish club from five-time Norwegian champions Valerenga

With a statement on the official website, Danish 1st Division club Hobro have confirmed the signing of Nigerian offensive player Onyebuchi Obasi.

By signing a three-year contract with Hobro, Obasi ended his two-year association with five-time Norwegian Eliteserien champions Vålerenga Fotball.

The 21-year-old winger became Hobro's fourth signing of the summer after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract valid until 2029.

He struggled to get adequate playing opportunities during his time with Vålerenga, making a total of nine appearances and scoring one goal across the Eliteserien, OBOS-liga and NM Cup.

In search of first team opportunities, he was loaned out to Swedish third-tier club FC Stockholm in March 2026, where he made three appearances, logging 47 minutes.

Commenting on his move to Hobro, Obasi told the club's official website: "I am happy to be moving to Hobro IK. A club that I have already had a really good impression of and where I have felt welcome from day one.

"I have had good talks with head coach Jens Gjesing and sports director Lars Justesen and I am sure that this move is the right one for me and my development.

"I am looking forward to pulling the yellow jersey over my head and giving back to the club on the pitch.

"As a player, I am a fast and challenging type who always works hard for the team and I will do my part to ensure that we have a good season."

For the upcoming season, the Beyond Limit Football Academy product has been assigned the number 29 kit.
