Swiss Super League giants FC Basel loan in Trabzonspor forward Kazeem Olaigbe

Twenty-one-time Swiss Super League champions FC Basel have completed the signing of dual-national forward Kazeem Olaigbe on a season-long loan from Turkish club Trabzonspor, with an option to make the move permanent.

Born in Brussels, Olaigbe has represented Belgium at U15, U16, U17, U19, U20 and U21 levels.

Although he is among the dual-national players being monitored by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, the Southampton academy graduate has previously stated his desire to represent Belgium at senior level.

The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Süper Lig side Konyaspor and has been sent out on loan again after falling out of Trabzonspor's plans for the 2026–2027 campaign.

Across his spells with Trabzonspor and Konyaspor last season, Olaigbe registered one goal and seven assists in 37 appearances.

The Belgian-Nigerian winger has also turned out for Anderlecht, Ross County, Harrogate Town, Cercle Brugge and Rennes during his career.

At FC Basel, Olaigbe will link up with Nigeria international Philip Otele, who recently returned to St. Jakob-Park after spending the second half of last season on loan at Hamburg.
