With a statement on the official website, Premier League new boys Hull City have confirmed that young defender James Debayo will be spending the upcoming season on loan at League Two club Swindon Town.
James is the younger brother of Chelsea academy product Josh Debayo, who trained with Nigeria's Golden Eaglets ahead of the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup but missed out on the final squad that travelled to the United Arab Emirates.
The younger Debayo joined Hull City in January 2026 following a successful trial, signing an eighteen-month contract, with a club option for the 2027-2028 season.
Last season, he was named in two matchday squads but was an unused substitute in back-to-back wins against Southampton and Preston North End.
Before joining the Tigers, he made two first team appearances for Leeds United and was named in 24 matchday squads during the Whites' title-winning campaign.
James describes himself as a composed ball-playing defender who is comfortable breaking the lines and stepping into midfield.
Defensively, he relies on his pace and aggression, while also taking pride in winning aerial battles and one-on-one duels.
Debayo signed his first professional contract with Leeds United ahead of the 2023-2024 season.
