Official: Rangers reveal identity of new manager for Fernandez and first-team players

Through a statement on their official website, Scottish Premiership giants Rangers have officially confirmed the appointment of Derek McInnes as the club's new first team manager.

McInnes , who will work with Nigeria international Emmanuel Fernandez and other first team players, replaces Danny Röhl after his move to RB Salzburg earlier on Wednesday.

The 54-year-old makes his return to Ibrox, having previously represented the Light Blues during his playing career between 1995 and 2000.

During his five-year spell with the club, he made 52 appearances and scored four goals, while providing two assists.

McInnes guided Hearts to a second-place finish in the Scottish Premiership last season, narrowly missing out on the title after a late defeat to eventual champions Celtic on the final day.

The PFA Scotland, SPFL and SFWA Manager of the Year started his managerial career at St Johnstone in 2007 and has gone on to manage Bristol City, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and most recently Hearts.

Fernandez is expected to take on an increasingly influential role at Rangers next season if he remains at the club, with the new coaching addition set to provide further support in his development.

However, his performances have attracted attention from several clubs across Europe's top five leagues, with Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham United among the sides reportedly monitoring his situation.
