Iheanacho scores game-winning goal four days after re-joining FC Midtjylland

Nigerian striker Stanley Iheanacho marked his return to FC Midtjylland in sensational fashion, scoring the decisive goal in a narrow 1-0 victory over Norwegian side Lillestrøm SK in a preseason friendly on Saturday afternoon.

The 21-year-old forward, who rejoined the Danish club just four days ago after a spell with Portuguese outfit CD Mafra, came off the bench in the second half and made an instant impact.

He netted the only goal of the encounter in the 77th minute, reacting quickest to a loose ball after an error from the Lillestrøm goalkeeper and smashing home from close range.

The strike proved decisive in a tightly contested match at Herning Fremad, securing victory for the Danish Superliga side in their first preseason outing.

Iheanacho committed his future to the Danish giants by signing a contract that runs until December 31, 2030, following an impressive spell in Portugal.

The attacker enjoyed a standout 2025/2026 campaign with CD Mafra, where he registered 14 goals and one assist in 31 appearances across all competitions.

His immediate impact on his return will no doubt delight him, as he looks to build on this strong start and maintain his fine form ahead of the 2026/2027 season.

Meanwhile, Ovie Ejeheri, who previously trained with the Super Eagles during the Unity Cup tournament, also featured for the Danish side and impressed in goal, making a series of excellent first-half saves to keep his team competitive.
