Former Super Eagles invitee Eberechi Eze admitted that Ghana's Black Stars made things difficult for England after their second group match in Foxborough ended in a goalless draw.
Eze was invited to train with the Super Eagles in London back in 2017, but the Arsenal attacking midfielder is now cap-tied to his country of birth and is no longer eligible to represent Nigeria.
After he was an unused substitute in the Three Lions' impressive 4-2 win over Croatia, Eze made his World Cup debut against the Black Stars, coming off the bench in the 74th minute to replace Elliot Anderson.
Despite failing to secure all three points, Eze believes England created enough opportunities and must continue with the same confidence as they look to finish top of the group.
Asked what England need to do better in their next match to strengthen their chances of topping the group, Eze told Odey Godspower: "I think more of the same. As I said today, we worked hard, there were opportunities for us to win the game, but they made it difficult at times.
"I'm trusting that what we've been doing and how we've been playing with confidence will put us in a good position to win the group.
"And as long as we hold on to that, that's the main thing."
England will face Panama in their last group game of the 2026 World Cup at the MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford on June 2027.
