3 games, 3 goals: Red-hot striker Iheanacho scores again for Midtjylland in pre-season

Nigerian forward Stanley Iheanacho continued his impressive goalscoring form in preseason as FC Midtjylland secured a 4-2 victory over Silkeborg IF in a friendly match on Saturday.

The Danish club is using the series of test games to fine-tune preparations for the 2026/27 season, and the 21-year-old once again made a significant impact after coming off the bench.

Iheanacho, who rejoined Midtjylland from Portuguese side CD Mafra during the summer transfer window, was introduced in the second half and scored his side's third goal of the contest.

Midtjylland had established a 2-0 first-half lead through Mikel Gogorza and Dario Osorio before Rami Al Hajj pulled one back for Silkeborg with a well-taken free-kick in the 53rd minute.

Iheanacho restored his team's two-goal advantage with a composed finish from Aral Simsir's precise delivery.

Although Sofus Berger later reduced the deficit to 3-2, Frederik Bunten sealed the victory with Midtjylland's fourth goal.

The strike extended Iheanacho's remarkable scoring streak, with the young attacker finding the net in every preseason appearance since returning to the Danish club.

He has now scored three goals, having previously netted in the 1-0 victory over Lillestrom and the 2-2 draw against Swedish side Malmo.

Iheanacho will be aiming to maintain his rich vein of form as Midtjylland prepare for their UEFA Europa League qualifying clash against Besiktas and the start of the new domestic campaign.
