'We will win' - Super Eagles striker Moffi insists 'no pressure at all' ahead of Zimbabwe clash

Terem Moffi has insisted the Super Eagles are not feeling any pressure as they prepare to face Zimbabwe in a Unity Cup semifinal clash at the Valley in London on Tuesday, May 26.

The OGC Nice loanee has returned to the Super Eagles fold after his omission from the  2025 Africa Cup of Nations squad.

Manager Eric Chelle has called up a blend of Nigeria Premier Football League standouts, dual-national players, and fringe Super Eagles players for the Unity Cup .

Speaking after Nigeria's first training session in London, Moffi praised the quality of the home-based players in camp.

"It’s been top sessions from the boys, and we’re proud to be here, happy to represent the country. We are looking forward to other sessions and the games,” the striker said to Proudly Austin

"From the boys back home, top session from them. We could see the quality from the get-go. This is what we need in the Super Eagles, a mix of this and that. We love that."

Nigeria lifted the Unity Cup in 2025 after defeating Jamaica in the final, and Moffi says the current group is motivated to replicate that success.

"No pressure at all. We are just happy to be here to play football, enjoy ourselves and win games."

Looking ahead to the Zimbabwe match, Moffi dismissed any suggestion that previous results should affect Nigeria’s mindset, despite the Super Eagles failing to beat the Warriors home and away in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

"It doesn’t make it a difficult game. There’s no hard feelings. We are just here to play another game against Zimbabwe, so we try to win. We will win."

Addressing Nigeria's failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Moffi said: "We are past that now. Four months ago, everyone was disappointed but now I think we have to leave it behind and look forward, and see what’s in front of us. There is no need looking back and being disappointed about it."

Moffi scored once and provided an assist in nine appearances during the second half of the 2025/26 season, helping Porto secure the Primeira Liga title.
