'We still have the match against Nigeria' - Poland winger expects improvement after loss to Ukraine

Poland winger Jakub Kamiński has insisted there is confidence within the squad ahead of their upcoming fixture against Nigeria, despite the Eagles’ 2–0 defeat to Ukraine in the first of their two summer friendlies in June.

Kamiński played the entirety of the second half, coming off the bench to replace Oskar Pietuszewski as first half goals from Roman Yaremchuk and Andriy Yarmolenko secured victory for Ukraine.

Poland manager Jan Urban named an experimental squad and made five changes at half-time, but the substitutions failed to produce the desired impact.

Four debutants were handed their first senior appearances as Oskar Wójcik, Mateusz Żukowski, Norbert Wojtuszek and Kacper Potulski were all given opportunities by the coach during the second half.

Speaking after the game, Kamiński pointed to the lack of familiarity among several players who were featuring together for the first time, suggesting that it affected the team’s performance.

In quotes relayed by Sportowefakty, he admitted: "It's obvious that some of us were playing together for the first time, and it's normal that sometimes there was a lack of automaticity. We still have the match against Nigeria, and we'll definitely improve the elements that weren't working today".

Nigeria travel to Warsaw for  Wednesday's game with a depleted squad following the withdrawals of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Femi Azeez, Samson Tijani, Alhassan Yusuf and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro.
