'We have top strikers' - Unity Cup winner Moffi opens up on fierce competition in Super Eagles attack

Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi has highlighted the intense competition for places in Nigeria’s attack, stressing that only players performing at their peak can regularly secure a spot in the national team.

Moffi made the remarks after Nigeria’s 3-0 win over Jamaica in the Unity Cup final at The Valley in London, a result that saw the Super Eagles successfully defend their title.

Speaking to Molatsportgist after the victory, Moffi expressed delight at his recent success, saying winning trophies in quick succession has boosted his confidence and motivation.

“It feels great winning a title again,” Moffi said. “My first one was two weeks ago and another one today. I feel really proud of myself and the team.

Despite his achievements, the forward admitted he is still pushing to reach his best level, stressing that competition for attacking roles in the national team remains intense.

Looking ahead to securing a regular spot in the Super Eagles setup, Moffi said consistency will be key as he aims to establish himself among Nigeria’s attacking options.

“Of course you always have to look at ways to improve. I am not at my best, I have to be at a better level. If you want to play for the Super Eagles, we all know we have top strikers, so you have to be at your best continuously,” he added.

He also reflected on his experience captaining and playing with the NPFL side, praising the collective effort of the team after a hard-fought campaign.

“It wasn’t easy, if I am being honest. But I am proud of the boys, they did an amazing job and enjoy themselves tonight. They should do what they have to do tonight and next year, we will go again,” he concluded.

The Nigerian striker recently won the Portuguese title with FC Porto, whom he joined on loan from OGC Nice after a dispute involving the club’s supporters.
