Warri-born former Poland international Emmanuel Olisadebe has insisted he has no regrets about his decision to represent Poland at international level, and has offered his prediction for Wednesday evening's international friendly at the Stadion PGE Narodowy in Warsaw.
The former Jasper United striker earned 25 caps for Poland, scoring 11 goals before bringing his playing career to an end.
Olisadebe played an instrumental role in Poland’s successful qualification campaign for the 2002 Fifa World Cup, netting eight goals in nine matches.
He also made his mark at the tournament in Japan and South Korea, scoring against the United States in the group stage.
When asked whether he would make the same decision to represent Poland if given the chance again, the Nigerian-born former forward left no room for doubt.
“Yes, in the same situation,” Olisadebe said in an interview shared on Sporty Channel’s YouTube platform.
Olisadebe backed Poland to secure a 2-0 win over Nigeria, pointing to the unavailability of marquee forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.
"Because two key players from Nigeria, they are not playing. I don’t know where the goal is going to come from. But I know they are very good players, new players. I have not seen them play, so that’s why I said 2–0,” Olisadebe explained.
Clarifying his role at the event, the ex-Poland international stressed that his presence was not in a journalistic capacity but for promotional purposes.
“I am a guest, promotional for STS, not journalism. We have something with Bravo Sport, so I was asked by the company to be here, just a kind of promotion for the company."
Olisadebe was among those in attendance at Poland's pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon, where he asked manager Jan Urban a question concerning Robert Lewandowski.
