Super Eagles player ratings: Ndidi shines, Okoye impressive, Nnadi energetic, Dele-Bashiru creative, Akpan overwhelmed

Nigeria suffered a 2-1 defeat to Portugal, marking their first loss in the last four friendly matches.

The starters

Goalkeeper

Maduka Okoye (7.5/10): The Udinese goalkeeper was impressive and produced four important saves to keep Nigeria in the game.

Defenders

Calvin Bassey (6.5/10): Bassey delivered a solid defensive performance at the heart of Nigeria's backline. Registered 53 touches, more than any other player on the pitch. 

Semi Ajayi (5/10): The former Arsenal defender put in an average display before being substituted.

Bruno Onyeamachi (6/10): The defender impressed in his duel with Ronaldo but was booked early on after a mistimed challenge in the 19th minute.

Christian Akpan (4/10): Akpan endured a disappointing debut against Portugal and struggled to settle into the game. Lost possession nine times. 

Midfielders and forwards: 

Wilfred Ndidi (8/10): The Super Eagles captain impressed in midfield with a game-high six defensive actions, comprising two tackles, two clearances, one blocked shot and one interception.

Alex Iwobi (5.5/10): The Fulham man marked his milestone appearance by contributing diligently in defensive areas, although he was unable to create any notable scoring opportunities.

Tochukwu Nnadi (7/10): The Marseille midfielder was tireless and energetic during his spell on the pitch. He won a game-high three tackles and was dribbled past just once. 

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru (6/10): Dele-Bashiru provided the assist for Nigeria's equaliser late in the first half. Registered a team-high two key passes. 

Akor Adams – 7/10: The Sevilla striker scored the equaliser, calmly slotting the ball through the goalkeeper's legs.

Moses Simon (4.5/10): Simon struggled to make an impact and found it difficult against Nelson Semedo throughout the match.

The substitutes

Zaidu Sanusi (4/10): Sanusi will be disappointed with his defensive display, as he was unable to prevent Francisco Conceição from scoring the winner.

Abdullahi Bewene (5.5/10): Bewene impressed after his second-half introduction, showing energy and solidity in his performance.

Frank Onyeka (4.5/10): Onyeka, as usual, brought energy to midfield but could not help Nigeria avoid defeat.

Raphael Onyedika (5/10): Onyedika helped Nigeria regain temporary control after coming on, but Portugal quickly restored their dominance.

Terem Moffi (4.5/10): Moffi came off the bench in the second half but struggled to make any meaningful impact.

Samuel Chukwueze (4.5/10): Chukwueze missed a clear chance to level the score for Nigeria in the closing stages of the game.

Paul Onuachu(4/10): Onuachu was introduced in the second half but failed to influence the game.

Philip Otele (N/A): Otele was brought on in the final moments in place of Alex Iwobi.
