Super Eagles midfielder unlikely to stay at Leicester City after relegation to League One

Allnigeriasoccer.com can report with certainty that Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo is likely to leave Leicester City when his loan deal with the former Premier League champions expires.

The future of the Charlton Athletic academy graduate is set to become a key talking point in the coming months, with his contract at Southampton due to expire on June 30, 2026.

Having sought regular playing time after a proposed summer move failed to materialise, Aribo completed a deadline day loan switch to Leicester City during the winter transfer window.

He was named in thirteen matchday squads for the King Power Stadium outfit but was handed only a single start.

It is understood that Leicester have held initial discussions over a possible extension of his stay despite his limited involvement, but following the club's relegation to League One, Aribo is unwilling to continue in the third tier and is now set to pursue a move elsewhere this summer.

The former Rangers star has significant experience in League One, making 81 appearances for Charlton Athletic, where he registered 27 goal contributions (14 goals and 13 assists).

On the international stage, Aribo has not featured for the Super Eagles since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final, where he came on as a late substitute for Zaidu Sanusi.
