Stockport County confirm Nigerian right-back has signed pre-contract with Waldhof Mannheim

Following the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season, Stockport County have confirmed their retained and released list.

Through a statement on the club's official website, the Hatters have informed that German-born Nigerian defender Jid Okeke is leaving Edgeley Park.

The right-back has signed a pre-contract agreement with SV Waldhof Mannheim, with Stockport County receiving training compensation.

After spending time in the youth setups of Oldham Athletic and St Pauli, Okeke joined Stockport County’s Emerging Talents programme in early 2024.

The 21-year-old is set to leave Stockport County after appearing in six first team games.

In search of adequate game time, he enjoyed loan spells at non-league clubs South Shields, Hereford, Chester and Rochdale, before moving to Walsall on a season-long loan deal for the 2025-2026 campaign.

Okeke scored two goals in 30 all-competition appearances for Walsall in the recently concluded season.

Meanwhile, Ibadan-born centre-back Josh Olowu remains under contract with Stockport County until June 30, 2028 and has been retained for next season.

The former Arsenal youth team player missed the League One playoff final versus Bolton Wanderers due to injury.
