Portugal manager Roberto Martínez has unveiled his squad for the 2026 Fifa World Cup in Canada, the United States and Mexico, with five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo leading the 27-man roster.
Several Premier League stars were included in the squad announced on Tuesday, among them Bruno Fernandes, Pedro Neto, Rúben Dias and José Sá.
The reigning UEFA Nations League champions have been drawn in Group K of the World Cup alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uzbekistan and Colombia.
As part of their preparations for their tournament opener against the Leopards at Houston’s NRG Stadium, Portugal have scheduled a high-profile friendly against the Super Eagles.
A week before facing DR Congo, the Portuguese side will meet Nigeria at the Dr. Magalhães Pessoa Stadium in Leiria, with Ronaldo and Fernandes both expected to named in the matchday squad.
Ronaldo missed Portugal's 4-0 victory over Nigeria in November 2022, a match in which Fernandes scored twice in the first half.
Nigeria manager Eric Chelle has already confirmed that he will name his strongest available squad for the friendly scheduled for June 10.
