Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze (pictured) has linked up with the Super Eagles in Lisbon, completing a near-full squad of 22 players ahead of Nigeria’s high-profile international friendly against hosts Portugal.

The 27-year-old Fulham forward, currently on loan from AC Milan, arrived after missing recent matches , including the 2-2 draw against Poland, due to the passing of his mother, whom he laid to rest.

His timely arrival provides a significant boost to Coach Eric Chelle’s attacking options as the team prepares for one of their toughest tests of the year.

Chukwueze brings pace, dribbling flair, and proven experience on the big stage.

Alongside club teammates Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, he strengthens a squad eager to challenge a star-studded Portugal side featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes.

The Super Eagles landed in Lisbon following their Polish assignment, with 19 players traveling directly before being joined by Iwobi, Genk defender Christian Akpan, and now Chukwueze.

One player, Rafiu Durosinmi, was excused for personal reasons. The match, scheduled for June 10 in Leiria, serves as Portugal’s final warm-up before the 2026 FIFA World Cup and a vital preparation opportunity for Nigeria ahead of future competitions.

Chukwueze’s return is expected to inject creativity and directness into the attack.

Known for his explosive runs and ability to create chances, the winger will be eyeing a starting role against a defense that will test his recovery and sharpness.
