Millwall won't release Super Eagles star in the making Azeez for Poland, Portugal friendlies

Championship outfit Millwall have decided not to release their flamboyant winger Femi Azeez to the Nigeria Football Federation ahead of the Super Eagles high-profile friendly matches against Poland and Portugal, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The tri-national player, who is also eligible for his country of birth England and Spain through his mother, was initially left out of the 25-man squad list for the friendlies next month.

Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle planned to add him to the travelling squad to Warsaw but Millwall will not allow Azeez remain with the Super Eagles.

Regarded as one of the EFL Championship's most exciting talents, Azeez proved that the form which had earned him widespread acclaim at Millwall was no coincidence.

The dynamic attacker marked his Nigeria debut with a brace against Zimbabwe and followed it up with an assist as the Super Eagles cruised to victory over Jamaica.

Chelle had hoped to bolster his squad with Azeez for the June friendlies, particularly after his two marquee forwards became unavailable.

Victor Osimhen withdrew from the squad amid growing speculation over his future at Galatasaray, while Ademola Lookman also pulled out for personal reasons, leaving the Malian tactician short of attacking reinforcements.

Azeez finds himself in a similar position to Osimhen, with speculation mounting over his future at Millwall.

The winger has been linked with a move away from The Den, with several Premier League clubs credited with an interest.
