'I'm very happy' - Super Eagles CB credits hard work for impressive start with Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor centre-back Chibuike Nwaiwu has expressed his satisfaction with how quickly he has settled into life at the club, attributing his smooth adaptation to determination, perseverance, and consistent hard work.

Nwaiwu joined Trabzonspor during the January transfer window, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the Turkish club until June 30, 2030, following his departure from Austrian side Wolfsberger AC.

The 22-year-old has settled seamlessly into life in the Turkish Super Lig, quickly establishing himself as one of the league’s standout young defenders and widely regarded as the best U23 centre-back in the division.

In the recently concluded campaign, Nwaiwu made 16 Super Lig appearances, scoring three goals while also contributing an assist, underlining his influence at both ends of the pitch.

Reflecting on his progress, the defender revealed his delight at how rapidly he adjusted to the demands of his new environment.

In quotes relayed by gunebakis, Nwaiwu said: "I adapted very quickly. I'm grateful for my performance. This is, of course, the result of determination, perseverance, and hard work. I'm very happy."

Nwaiwu was an unused substitute as Trabzonspor were beaten 3-0 by Genclerbirligi in their final game of the season on Sunday, May 17.

He made his Super Eagles debut off the bench in an international friendly against Iran back in March.
