Iheanacho wins league title as Celtic come from behind to beat Hearts on final day

Kelechi Iheanacho ended the season on a high as Celtic fought back to beat Heart of Midlothian 3-1, and seal the Premiership title on the final day of the 2025-2026 season.

In the high-stakes clash at Celtic Park, the Hoops were level at the break after Arne Engels converted from the penalty spot to cancel out Lawrence Shankland's headed opener two minutes before half-time.

Celtic boss Martin O'Neill made one change at the interval, introducing Iheanacho for winger Sebastian Tounekti as the hosts searched for a winning goal.

Iheanacho came close to scoring the winner, producing a superb turn and strike that looked destined for the net before crashing against the base of the post.

In the 87th minute, Daizen Maeda put Celtic 2-1 ahead before Callum Osmand added a stoppage-time goal to seal the club's 14th league title in 15 years.

Celtic were crowned champions after winning seven consecutive league matches, with Iheanacho playing a key role by coming off the bench to score in wins over Dundee, Hibernian and Motherwell.

Overall, the former Manchester City and Leicester City striker registered eight goals in 23 appearances across all competitions, an impressive return considering he played just 858 minutes.

Iheanacho's contract runs out at the end of the season, but the Premiership champions have an option for the 2026-2027 season.
