Nigeria and Portugal will square off in a high-profile international friendly in Leiria on Wednesday, June 10, with the encounter serving as a key part of Portugal's preparations for the 2026 Fifa World Cup.
The Portuguese side will use the match as a final tune-up ahead of their tournament opener against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
For Nigeria, the fixture represents another important step in their build-up to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The Super Eagles head into the contest in excellent form under Eric Chelle.
Following their third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria opened their summer schedule with a 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe before securing a 3-0 win against Jamaica in the Unity Cup final.
They then followed that up with an entertaining 2-2 draw against Poland, extending their impressive unbeaten run to eleven matches in regulation time.
In terms of goal contributions, former Porto striker Terem Moffi has been the Super Eagles' standout performer this summer, registering two goals and two assists in three appearances.
Moffi has returned to the national team setup after spending seven months on the international sidelines and has quickly made his presence felt.
On how much he missed the national team, he told TVC News: "It's been a long time since I have been with the Super Eagles and I'm just happy to be here playing football again, scoring goals, helping the team, helping my teammates. It's pleasure always being here."
A Primeira Liga champion with Porto in the 2025-2026 season, Moffi will bring his knowledge of Portuguese football to the Super Eagles.
"I'll try my best to lead the team as much as I can. I played in the Portuguese league and won the championship with FC Porto, although I only spent half a season there. I know a little about how the Portuguese national team play and how their players play."
Moffi is not the only Super Eagles player familiar with Portuguese football as Bruno Onyemaechi and Zaidu Sanusi have both featured in the Primeira Liga.
