Dual-national centre-forward Brian Nwadike starred as Japan U21s defeated Ukraine U21s 3-0 in an international friendly on Monday, June 8.
Eligible to represent Nigeria through his father, Nwadike signed a four-year contract with Danish club Aalborg last month, with the move set to be finalised once the summer transfer window officially opens.
The 20-year-old earned the deal after impressing during a trial period, convincing Aalborg's coaching staff and sporting director John Møller of his potential.
Nwadike made an immediate impact against Ukraine, opening the scoring after just 17 seconds.
The striker timed his run perfectly before heading home a cross to give Japan an early lead.
After Rei Umeki doubled the advantage in the eighth minute, Nwadike grabbed his second goal of the match in the 61st minute to put the result beyond doubt.
The brace took his tally for Japan U21s to four goals in nine appearances, while he scored six goals in 14 matches for Toin University of Yokohama FC.
Following his international commitments, Nwadike is expected to report for pre-season training with Aalborg on June 22.
The Danish club have assigned him the number 19 shirt for the 2026-27 season.
