Basel forward checks into Super Eagles camp in Warsaw ahead of Poland clash

Basel forward Philip Otele has checked into the Super Eagles camp in Warsaw ahead of Wednesday's international friendly against Poland at the PGE Narodowy Stadium.

The winger arrived in the Polish capital boosting Nigeria's squad options ahead of the highly anticipated encounter as preparations continue for the clash against the European side.

Otele's arrival takes the number of players in camp to 21, providing Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle with additional attacking alternatives ahead of the fixture.

The 27-year-old was part of the Nigerian squad that recently won the Unity Cup in London, where the Super Eagles successfully defended their title.

Otele made a positive impact during the tournament and registered an assist for Nigeria's third goal in the emphatic 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the final at The Valley.

His arrival comes at a crucial time for the Super Eagles, who will be without two of their key attacking players for the upcoming friendlies against Poland and Portugal.

Former African Player of the Year Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen will not feature after demanding club campaigns during the recently concluded season.

The absence of both stars leaves a significant gap in Nigeria's attack, with Chelle expected to rely on other members of his squad to provide the necessary firepower against Poland.

For Otele, the friendly presents another opportunity to impress the coaching crew and strengthen his position within the national team setup.

Nigeria will take on Poland on Wednesday evening before facing Portugal in another high-profile international friendly as Chelle continues to assess his options and build towards future competitive assignments.
